Purpose and Scope: Technology Assistant’s responsibilities are to support and maintain Technology programs and applications, assist in the development and maintenance of all aspects of school technology resources, and act as a facilitator for staff development in the application of technology.  Technology Assistants offer support to users who are experiencing problems with their computers or software, diagnose computer problems, monitor computer processing systems, install software, and perform tests on computer equipment and programs. They also set up computer equipment, scheduled maintenance, and teach clients to use programs. Other job duties include minor repairs and computer parts ordering.

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

Monitoring Help Desk tickets and resolving user issues & responding within agreed time limits to tickets  
Talking staff, student and parent users through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the telephone, to help set up systems or resolve issues  
Installing and configuring computer hardware, operating systems, applications, and replacing parts as required  
Assist with any troubleshooting problems regarding any software problems, fixing and cleaning up virus attacks.
Monitoring and proactively maintaining computer systems and networks  
Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults  
Working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)  
Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with colleagues, users and other professionals, such as software developers, providers and consultants
Setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues  
Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports  
Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system  
Supporting the roll-out of new applications or updates  
Maintaining documentation and hardware/software registers 
Organize and carry out preventive service work on all computers and networks.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or working toward a degree)

Experience:  2+ years’ experience in computer networks and systems maintenance.

Special Skills and Competencies:

Demonstrated experience with current network operating systems and devices
Ability to meet deadlines and manage stress effectively in high-pressure situations
Understanding of IT principles and an ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to a varied audience
Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality required
Ability to think logically and demonstrate problem-solving, initiative, self-guidance, task-orientation, attention to detail, and organizational skills required to prioritize workload and complete tasks effectively and efficiently 
Demonstrate interpersonal skills and understanding, ability to work well in a team, commitment to team/school goals and vision, and willingness to share knowledge and expertise in these areas.
Excellent listening and questioning skills, combined with the ability to interact confidently with clients to establish what the problem is and explain the solution, and maintain a strong customer focus
Fulfill all other duties and responsibilities of an ISP staff member.
